What is it? Franklin's famous, 'Wednesday Night Wags'  is a series of concerts and events benifiting Happy Tales Humane, a not for profit no-kill animal shelter, located here in Franklin. All the proceeds from the concerts go to the shelter.

Who's Playing? This year's featured artist is Hank Williams III, grandson of Hank Williams and son of Hank Jr. In 1999 Hank III's debut entitled Risin' Outlaw was released. It presented 13 rough-hewn country numbers colored by Hank's honky tonking vocals. The double-disc Straight to Hell was released March 2006 . The first CD contained songs with elements of traditional country warped to fit Hank III's rebel attitude, while the second disc boasted only one song that featured just Williams, his guitar and ambient noises. Ever in the outlaw mode, Williams released Damn Right, Rebel Proud in 2008.

Other artists include:

Joey & Rory with Tim Johnson as "The Song Trust": With a made-for-TV kind of twist, husband and wife duo Joey+Rory bring beautiful harmonies, top-notch songwriting plus their natural joyfulness, authenticity and romance to traditional country music. Now signed to Vanguard/Sugar Hill Records alongside a venerable roster of alternative country, bluegrass and Americana greats, Joey+Rory's musical journey together is just beginning. As a writer, Tim Johnson has enjoyed considerable success with over 60 major cuts by such greats as Diamond Rio, Joe Diffie, LeeAnn Womack, and #1 with Mark Chestnutt with "Thank God For Believers" and "Someone You Used To Know" with Collin Raye. Other Top Ten hits include "I Let Her Lie" by Darryl Singletary and "Maybe He'll Notice Her Now" by Mindy McCready.

Jimmy Hall: Jimmy Hall's latest endeavors include the Triple Trouble CD with Lloyd Jones and Tommy Castro and backed by Stevie Ray Vaughan’s band Double Trouble. He also has compiled a soul-stirring CD called The Mighty Jeremiahs featuring Greg Martin from the Kentucky Headhunters. The newest Jimmy Hall project is a tribute to the great singer and songwriter Eddie Hinton called Build Your Own Fire. This CD features legendary Muscle Shoals musicians and guest vocalist Delbert McClinton.
