The Kiwanis Club of Spring Hill is sponsoring a pancake breakfast on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at Applebee’s Restaurant from 7:30 – 9:30 AM. Tickets are $6.00 for all you can eat pancakes. Children under 3 are free. Proceeds from the breakfast will help fund the Imagination Library.

The Imagination Library Program was started by Dolly Parton as a way to foster family reading in the community. Each child in Spring Hill, from birth to five years of age, is eligible to participate in the City’s Imagination Library Program. As members of the program, the children receive an age-appropriate book in the mail each month – at no cost to them.

The Tennessee Board of Regents released a study that asked kindergarten and pre-kindergarten teachers to rate children on several learning attributes.  Not surprisingly, the study found that those children participating in Dolly’s Imagination Library consistently performed better in these areas.

The Spring Hill Imagination Library has grown to more than 1,000 children in both Maury and Williamson Counties. As the program has grown, so has the need for funding. The program is supported entirely by the generosity of the community.

Kiwanis is an organization of volunteers dedicated to the children of Spring Hill. All funds raised are used for programs in the local community.  We invite you to consider membership if you share our desire to change the world through service to children and our community. Members are a group of young and old, women and men, business, professional, active or retired, and stay-at-home mothers and fathers.  Join us for lunch during at our regular meetings on Tuesday from 12 – 1 PM at Applebee’s 4937 Columbia Pike, Spring Hill.

Come join us to start your Valentine’s Day weekend with a good breakfast, interesting company, and knowing that you helped the children of Spring Hill with early reading skills.  Tickets can be purchased at Regions Bank or Sun Trust Bank in Spring Hill, Community First Bank and Trust in Thompson’s Station, and at the door.
